Practice Assignment 1: Purchase Entry with GST Input
Learning Outcome:
By completing this assignment, the learner will understand how to:
• Create ledgers for GST input.
• Record a purchase transaction with GST.
• Verify GST Input Credit in Tally Prime.
Scenario:
You have purchased goods worth ₹50,000 (plus 18% GST) from a registered
supplier in Delhi.
Details:
• Invoice Date: 1st July 2024
• Supplier Name: ABC Traders
• GSTIN of Supplier: 07ABCDE1234F1Z1
• Purchase Ledger: Goods Purchase
• GST Ledger: IGST @ 18%
• Payment Mode: Credit (to be paid later)
Instructions to Complete This Assignment:
1. Create Ledgers (if not already created):
o Supplier Ledger: Name → ABC Traders, Type → Sundry Creditors,
GSTIN → 07ABCDE1234F1Z1.
o Purchase Ledger: Name → Goods Purchase, Type → Purchase
Account, Under GST Applicable.
o IGST Ledger: Name → IGST @ 18%, Type → Duties & Taxes → GST
→ Integrated Tax → 18%.
2. Record the Purchase Entry:
o Go to Gateway of Tally → Accounting Vouchers → F9 (Purchase).
o Select the Supplier Ledger (ABC Traders).
o Enter the Invoice Number and Date (1st July 2024).
o Under Particulars, select the Purchase Ledger and input the
amount ₹50,000.
o Select the IGST Ledger → Tally will auto-calculate 18% GST as
₹9,000.
o Total Invoice Value: ₹59,000.
o Save the entry.
