Counting by Grouping



            Look at the pictures of apples. Can you guess the number of apples?














            It will take more time if you count one by one.
            We have a simple way to do it fast.


            Take 2 apples at a time put them in one box.

            Let us see how we can count if we take two at a time.

            It’s like counting by twos.

            Say, two and another two make four,

            four and another two will make six, and soon.


            2, 4, 6, 8, 12. So there are 12 apples here.


            We skip a number and say the next when we count in a group of two.

            In the same way, we can count in groups of 2, 3, 4, etc.,

            Counting in groups makes counting of things easy and fast.

            Count the number of pencils by grouping them equally.
